SASTRA University - Admission 2024, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

SASTRA University has invited applications for admission in B.Tech courses for 2024. JEE Main 2024 session 1 results has been released. Candidates can download the same from jeemain.nta.nic.in using their JEE Main application form number and password. The session 2 registration has started and will end on March 2, 2024. The exam is scheduled for April 4-April 15, 2024. 

THE World University Rankings 2023: SASTRA University placed in the 1201-1500 rank band in THE World University Rankings 2023. The rankings are based on 13 factors that measure how well universities teach, research, share knowledge, and have an international focus. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is an annual publication that ranks universities worldwide based on several key indicators of academic performance and reputation. The rankings provide a comprehensive overview of the global higher education landscape and are widely recognized as one of the most influential university rankings. To ensure the rankings are accurate, the researchers studied more than 121 million citations from over 15.5 million research papers and got feedback from 40,000 scholars worldwide. They collected massive information, with over 680,000 data points from more than 2,500 participating universities.

Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy, also commonly known as SASTRA University, is a private and deemed university located in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. SASTRA University was the first-ever institution to get the status of a deemed university in Tamil Nadu. SASTRA was conferred Deemed-to-be-university status in 2001 by the UGC. SASTRA University also has an off-campus at Kumbakonam, Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre (SRC). The university is also accredited by NAAC with an “A++” grade. University status is accorded to Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy. The SASTRA University is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE. According to the NIRF 2021 Ranking, SASTRA University placed 38th in the engineering category, 17th in the legal category, 50th in the research category, 22nd in the university category, and 42nd overall.

SASTRA University courses are offered for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels of education. Subjects like technology, engineering, medicine, education, the arts, law, and administration through its eight colleges, two centres, and online education directorate. All of the undergraduate and graduate courses offered by SASTRA University are backed by research and have a strong theoretical foundation. Following the sessions, students can pursue doctoral thesis and dissertation research, which will enable them to develop a more in-depth and vivid knowledge of the fundamental ideas. Candidates must successfully pass the structural procedure of the SASTRA admissions office in order to be considered for a particular programme. The campus of SASTRA University has a modern infrastructure so that the students can concentrate better on their education.

Economically challenged students are given considerable financial scholarships by SASTRA University, which enables them to complete their education more swiftly and successfully. Governmental and non-governmental scholarships are available for SASTRA University. Dean's merit list and afterwards hostel scholarship are the two main categories of scholarships provided to students. The candidate must fulfil the fundamental structural requirements after enrolling in the programme in order to be eligible for SASTRA University scholarship benefits. Students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds will get financial aid with priority. Each student receives a stipend to support them in fully and effectively completing the course, regardless of their financial status. A total of 120 SASTRA courses are available for admission to interested candidates. Courses at Sastra University are offered at the diploma, UG, PG, and PhD levels. The university offers 56 courses at the UG level. B.Tech, B.Com, B.Optom, B.Sc., and other UG programmes are offered by the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy. Courses at SASTRA University are available in a variety of fields, including the sciences, engineering, law, and computer applications. The PG programmes offered by the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy include M.Tech, M.Sc., M.B.A., etc. The SASTRA University fee structure also changes with the course available.

SASTRA University Courses and Eligibility Criteria

SASTRA University aims to create high-quality intellectuals through its carefully designed academic programmes. The courseware content for the various SASTRA programs addresses key national importance issues and has an element of 'Value Education' embedded in them. SASTRA University follows the credit system for evaluating students' performance which is measured by the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). It is expected that all students complete at least two certificate courses within the period of study. The Certificate courses offered by SASTRA University are value-added and are provided free of cost to the students. Besides this, Students are motivated through guest lectures, industrial exposure, and real-life applications.

They hold weekly meetings to draw out and develop students' hidden skills via targeted training and practise in their particular professions. For example, the School of Humanities & Sciences' Athenaeum and None Such Club held a number of meetings to help students, particularly freshmen, improve their speaking abilities. 

Thanks to these clubs, SASTRA has won awards in many inter-college cultural events such as Saarang, Festember, Rivera, and others. SASTRA's National Level Annual Technical and Cultural Festivals, DAKSH and KURUKSASTRA, are organised by numerous student clubs and groups. Colossuem & Fuera are SHASTRA's intercollegiate and intracollegiate sporting events.

Parliament of Youth SASTRA hosted the national final round of the Sixth National Youth Parliament Competition, organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi. This time, the debate centred on social and economic topics such as groundwater pollution, India's WTO stance, the Common Civil Code, terrorism, etc. All of the students delivered outstanding performances based on a script that had been thoroughly researched. As a result, seven pupils have been chosen to attend a live session of parliament.
